Imagine. It is the year 2025 and you are in a sold out Rose Bowl in Pasadena, waiting for kickoff of a crucial CONCACAF World Cup 2026 Qualifying match. You cheer as two teams march out onto the field: the United States of America in Red, White and Blue and, wait for it ... the Republic of California in White, Red, and Green. The team captains exchange team pennants at the center circle and the two coaches, Bruce Arena for the USA and Landon Donovan for California shake hands on the sidelines. Both sides stand for the respective national anthems then the FIFA referee places the ball in the center circle. Game on!
